Well, people, we made it. It's 2020, the holidays are coming up, and more than ever, we need each other and small businesses need our support. As a small business myself, I know how much it means when you all choose to support Wabi-Sabi Botanicals - even more so after the year we've all had! So I've put together this #ShopSmall holiday gift guide to make your holiday shopping a breeze, while also sharing and supporting some of my favorite, affordable small business gift finds.

If you're looking for gifts that support small business, are sustainable, give back, are beautiful and practical, and don't break the bank - you've landed in the right spot. Let's get into it!

BABY + KIDS

When it comes to gift for babies and kids, I'm all about: practical, educational, versatile, durable, and affordable. I gravitate towards natural materials, stay away from plastic and electronics (ie. light-up toys), and obviously look for high quality that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Quality over quantity alllll day, every day. These brands tick all the boxes for me.

BEAUTY + BODY CARE

While gifting skincare can *sometimes* be a hit or miss, you can never go wrong with gifting beautiful body care products or spa (ie. facials, massages) treatments if you have the budget for it! For beauty and body care gifts, I look for natural and non-toxic, beautiful, and functional - the type of gifts that encourage our loved ones to take a little time for self-care.

TIP: Look up local holistic estheticians or spas in your area and ask about specials, spa packages, gift certificates, etc. - these professionals have been hit hard in 2020 and will appreciate the support!

MEN

Every year, I ask the same question and every year I get the same answer: "I don't know", "I don't want anything", OR (my personal favorite) "a Tesla." When it comes to shopping for men, I look for quality, practical items I know my guy will actually use. One year I bought him a planner, and it went untouched all. year. and then expired. Another year, I got him a personalized leather wallet and he hasn't stopped using or talking about it since. Enough said.

TIP: You can never go wrong with gift cards to his favorite, local food joints - think locally-owned small businesses, rather than big restaurant chains or fast food. This supports your local community and you know he'll love it!

EXPERIENCES

After almost an entire year spent 'quarantined' indoors, don't be afraid to gift your loved ones the gift of an experience! It's safe to say we could all use more connection, more fun, lightheartedness, activity and time spent outside this year. Look up local small businesses that offer gift certificates for:

  • Horseback riding
  • 'Rage rooms' (where you go in and smash things for fun!)
  • Axe-throwing
  • Whale watching
  • Wine tasting
  • Kayaking and other water activities
  • Paintball
  • Go-kart racing (ie. K1 Speedway)
  • Escape rooms
  • Archery
  • Boat tours and more - whatever they might be interested in!

While some of these experiences can cost a pretty penny, you'll find tons of great deals for local small businesses on Groupon

So, with that, I hope you've found this #ShopSmall Holiday Gift Guide helpful! I am so appreciative to all of my customers and try to pay it forward by supporting other small businesses the way you support mine.
